COVID-19 UPDATE

In response to the unprecedented challenges facing our health care system by Covid-19, the Winnett Specialist Group will continue to see all new urgent cases or existing urgent patients in rooms.
After this initial consultation, most consults can be carried out through our virtual clinic.
Mr Winnett will try to avoid postponing any urgent surgeries or procedures and will be seeing new patients for gallbladder, hernia conditions, appendicitis, gastrointestinal bleeding, suspected cancers, urgent gastroscopy/colonoscopy or any other GIT (Gastrointestinal Tract) conditions where a delay could make the patient’s condition worsen.

Rest assured, all protective measures are taken in our rooms and patients will be staggered to come in individually and will be seated 1.5m apart.

To protect other patients and our staff, please let us know if you are experiencing any Covid-19 symptoms such as fever, sore throat or shortness of breath or other flu-like symptoms.

WEIGHT LOSS PATIENTS

Mr Winnett offers the full gamut of bariatric procedures including, Sleeve Gastrectomy, Gastric Bypass, Orbera Intragastric Balloon and Laparoscopic Adjustable Gastric Banding. More about our procedures can be found here

Until further notice, all bariatric elective weight loss procedures have been cancelled. However, Mr Winnett will continue to see new bariatric patients for assessments in person, with a view to organising their surgery, if appropriate in the near future.

Given there may be a huge backlog of elective surgery across the nation when it’s back to ‘business as usual’, this is a key time to have your bloodwork done, prep for pre-surgical weight loss and have your initial consult with Mr Winnett (Sleeve/Bypass/Band/Balloon) or one of our GP Bariatric Physicians Dr Jason Chan or Dr Audrey Kotzander (Lap Band Adjustments).

As patients with diabetes and severe obesity are a higher risk category for Covid-19 it is very important in this waiting period to keep blood sugars on an even keel and stay on track with diet and lifestyle.

Furthermore, our doctors will continue to provide reviews via telehealth or in person if required.

To save time, and in the interests of social distancing, please fill out this new patient form online and email to admin@winnettspecialistgroup.com.au Rest assured that all protective measures are taken in rooms and patients will be staggered to come in individually and will be seated 1.5m apart.

To protect other patients and our staff, please let us know if you are experiencing any Covid-19 symptoms such as fever, sore throat or shortness of breath or other flu-like symptoms.

EXISTING GENERAL SURGICAL PATIENTS

Existing patients will generally be able to have consults online unless Mr Winnett or a member of his team needs to see you for your first post-up follow up or for some other medical reason they deem requires face-to-face contact.

Rest assured that all protective measures are taken in rooms and patients will be staggered to come in individually and will be seated 1.5m apart.

Please let us know if you are experiencing any Covid-19 symptoms such as fever, sore throat or shortness of breath or other flu-like symptoms.
